Bhandarkars' Arts & Science College, Kundapura, sponsored by the Academy of General Education, Manipal, is a first grade college of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college was established in 1963 in order to meet the growing demand for the University education and to make it available nearer home so that the economically less fortunate sections of the society may academically equip themselves better to face challenges in the age of science, technology and international commerce. The college aims to instill a sense of discipline and purpose, the cultivation of proper attitudes and an awareness of various responsibilities which the youth would be called upon to shoulder in their lives. In addition, a stress on civic virtues and a sense of social values are among the things sought to be impressed upon those who seek admission here. The College was re-accredited 'A' by NAAC in the year 2011.

VISION OF THE COLLEGE

The founders of the College envisage the following visionary goals and objectives through the instrument of higher education:

• To meet the growing demand for university education and make it available to the poorest sections of the rural community in and around Kundapura.
• To mould the character of the students of the college and turn them into worthy citizens.
• To inculcate among the students a sense of awareness about their duties and responsibilities.
• To inculcate among the students a sense of commitment to the practice of civic virtues and moral, cultural and human values.

MISSION OF THE COLLEGE

The founders of the College believe in the following mission statement:

• To build the 'state-of-the-art' infrastructure to provide a quality education at an affordable price.
• To augment class room teaching with moral, cultural and spiritual retreats.
• To provide every opportunity to the students and make them actively involve in extra-curricular, sports and games and extension activities by motivating them.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College was established in 2004, immediately after the first NAAC Accreditation of the College. The IQAC was reconstituted in the subsequent years. Dr. M.V. Narayana Swamy served as the IQAC co-ordinator through second NAAC Reaccreditation Cycle. Mr. Arunachala M. took over as co-ordinator after second reaccreditation. Presently Dr. Nataraj M.B. is serving as co-ordinator of the IQAC.
